Marie Duprey: Home

"Which of the two powers, Love or Music, can elevate man to the sublimest heights? It is a great problem, and yet it seems to me that this is the answer: Love can give no idea of music; music can give an idea of love. Why separate them? They are the two wings of the soul."

Hector Berlioz

Where does the time go! - May 19, 2008

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile. We've been working on some recordings of new songs, for demo, and submission to some competitions.

Had an awesome time in Rochester, NY where we sang at an old time music night at Greece Baptist Church. Very well attended! And we got to meet lots of wonderful people.

More to come soon.

Heard it on the radio... - January 7, 2008

Well, pretty exciting to be getting some play on the radio. Sitings...er...hearings on WUMB 91.9 FM and WRUV 90.1 FM in Burlington, VT. Great news, hope to hear more!

And we're really looking forward to seeing Laurie Lewis and the Right Hands at the National Heritage Museum, in Lexington, MA on Saturday the 12. Its a great venue and Laurie is always amazing!
Her beautiful Wood Thrush's Song is a favorite of mine. It'll be great to deliver a CD to her in person.

We're settling in, doing a bit of hibernating and healing and beginning to gear up for some Spring music. Check out the Calendar.

More soon!

Long time catching up and wedding bells ! - November 30, 2007

Whooooweeeeee!

What with working on the healing of one badly broken leg, settling in from the move and life in general, it's been awhile since I've posted.

The biggest news of all, is that Michael and I got hitched! Yessirreee, I'm a missus...job title changes but the name remains the same. I'm still keeping my long-standing moniker.

Due to the chaos that ensued around the broken bone disaster, we streamlined the whole event. Shifting from a big ceilidh with the foot stompin' Anthony Shostak of Wake the Neighbors fame, to a much more intimate (read manageable) affair in our new home — attended and officiated by the graceous and musically talented, Reverend Stephen Gretz and his lovely wife Leslie Lee and the equally talented and much loved Gail and Allen Weigner. We were blessed by the community, graced with song and spoken word and acknowledged by the State of Massachusetts and pronounced husband and wife on October 16th!

Well, more about wedded bliss, the at-home studio and music making in the coming days.

Peace
